Ghana Premier League champions FC Samartex managed to hold leaders Asante Kotoko to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

The champions drew first blood at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena after Awuah Dramani’s 38th-minute low drive beat Fred Asare in post.

The Timber Giants kept this going into the break.

The visitors, who lead the log with 37 points going into Saturday’s match, pressed strongly immediately into the second half and got the leveller in just the second minute.

Goal poacher Kwame Poku made no mistake as he slotted home in the 47th minute.

The score stayed the same as the two sides shared the spoils.

The Porcupine Warriors continue to remain at the top with 38 points.

The champions moved from bottom of the first half of the table to eighth, above Bechem United.

Their next game will be away to Berekum Chelsea though there will be an outstanding match against Medeama SC midweek.

Asante Kotoko will play Young Apostles in midweek’s outstanding games before hosting Basake Holy Stars in their Matchday 25 encounter.
