President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to reject division and embrace unity to drive Ghana’s progress.
He has advised the citizenry to shun anything that threatens national cohesion and instead adopt a unified approach to foster development.
Speaking during the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in Accra, President Mahama advised Ghanaians to avoid religious and tribal divisions to unite the nation.
“Let us remain vigilant against the voices of tribalism, against the voices of religious extremism, and against the poison of political hostility,” Mr Mahama warned.
He continued “These are the seeds of division that we must never let take root in our precious nation, Ghana.”
Mahama emphasised the importance of fostering peace, compassion, and mutual respect among all Ghanaians.
“We must speak a language of peace, compassion, and mutual respect. We must build bridges, not barriers, for we are one people sharing one land and pursuing one identity and destiny,” he said.
Meanwhile, Presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of the Action Chapel International (ACI), Nicholas Duncan-Williams, also speaking at the Service, charged the President to use his reset agenda and lead Ghana on a renewed path of transformation.
He urged Mahama not to merely use the reset agenda as a slogan but rather chart a course that will provide progress to the lives of Ghanaians.
Using the life of Jesus Christ as an example, Archbishop Duncan-Williams urged the President not to let the single term of office he is serving be an impediment to the change he is supposed to bring to the lives of Ghanaians.
He told him to act with faith and determination. He emphasised the importance of decisive leadership and a clear national vision to restore Ghana’s promise and potential.
July 1 has been set to mark Ghana’s National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving. It is a day for spiritual reflection, national gratitude and unity.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Reflect, Reset, and Renew for National Prosperity”. This initiative aims to foster unity, peace, and gratitude among Ghanaians.
