The little girl married to the Gborbu Wulormo, the chief priest of the Nungua Traditional Council, has been placed under the protection of the Police Service and the Gender Ministry, the Ministry of Information has disclosed.

A delegation from the Gender Ministry, including Minister-designate, Dakoa Newman, together with some officials visited the young girl and is reportedly in good health according to a statement issued by the government Friday, April 05, 2024.

The services of two caregivers who were assigned to ensure her well-being, comprehensive support, including counseling, medical attention, have been extended, adding a case worker who has been appointed to ensure strict adherence to child protection protocols.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the Ghana Police Service has gathered statements from the Gborbu Wulormo Shitse and the child’s parents, according to contents of the statement.

Moreover, discussions have been held by the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs with the Nungua traditional authorities to secure their full cooperation in safeguarding the child’s best interests.
