John Dramani Mahama, flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is promising to introduce an annual national day of thanksgiving for Muslims and Christians to intercede on behalf of the citizens.
According to him, many countries have such days where national thanksgiving is done to intercede on the nation.
He says that will help multiply the blessings that God has given the nation, saying it is something his next administration is going to consider.
Speaking to religions leaders in the Ho Central constituency, John Mahama says his next administration needs serious intercessory prayers from religious bodies and will institute the day to replicate what is being done in other countries.
“Many nations, even though God expects us to work hard to improve our circumstances, also recognise that spiritually, you must intercede for God to open the gates for you.
“In the United States, Zambia, Congo and so many countries I’ve been through, I’ve been invited to national thanksgiving prayers for the nation so we intend to introduce annually, a national day of prayer and thanksgiving so that we will thank god for what he has done for us so that he will do more for us.
“And so we’ll have a national day of thanksgiving and prayers so that all of us together will intercede to God to continuously open the doors for Ghana so that our country will progress and prosper to provide better opportunities for young people for our nation to be great sand strong,” he stated.
Mahama fears Ghana’s economy could be messier than being presented by gov’t
