President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to a strong partnership with the European Union, highlighting the region’s collaboration as crucial for Ghana’s development.

Speaking at the 2025 Ghana-EU Partnership Dialogue in Accra Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Mahama praised the EU as a key development ally and “co-architect of a new global order”, built on mutual respect, sustainability, and strategic alignment.

The 2025 Dialogue centered on unlocking investments, promoting green transition, enhancing regional security, and fostering a fairer global governance system.

It brought together EU ambassadors, government officials, private sector leaders, and civil society actors to review bilateral cooperation to shape a shared agenda.

President Mahama noted that the dialogue was an opportunity to explore new avenues for mutual benefit, highlighting the EU’s reliability as a partner over the years.

“Our partnership is not merely symbolic, it is a living instrument that anchors our shared pursuit of prosperity, stability, and sustainable development. The EU has proven to be a reliable partner in our journey, and this dialogue marks yet another opportunity to consolidate our gains and explore new areas of mutual benefit,” he said.

The President stressed on the prudent fiscal policies deployed by his administration to shape Ghana’s economic outlook which he said was steadily rebounding with a resilience currency.

The progress, he noted, was recently affirmed by an upgrade of Ghana’s credit rating, reemphasising the role of the private sector in making these gains.

With the upcoming revisions to the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Act, President Mahama called on European investors to take advantage of Ghana’s transformed business environment to invest and make gains.

“Ghana is positioning itself as a regional hub for sustainable agribusiness, manufacturing, and digital innovation. We welcome European expertise and investment as we chart a new course in industrial transformation,” he indicated.
