John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asked Ghanaians to not to vote for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) come December.

He says the victory of the NPP in 2016 and 2020 was a mistake Ghanaians made, urging them not to repeat same in 2024.

During a Monday, November 18, 2024 address at a mini rally at the Nsawam Adoagyiri lorry station, John Mahama said voting for the NDC in December will alleviate the struggles the NPP administration has plunged the nation into.

He said he is aware many supporters of the NPP have lost interest in this year’s election due to the disappointment from the party leadership.

He urged them to instead vote for the NDC, signalling the need for a change in governance.

“In 2016 we made a wrong choice, in 2020 we repeated that choice but I know that on 7th December 2024, we are going to correct the mistake that we made and bring NDC back into government.”

“…At all times, everyone wants a good life and development. There are consequences to our choices: if we vote well, there will be freedom and development; but if we don’t, there will be hardships. So, December 7th is another opportunity to right the wrong by voting for the NDC,” he stated.

He also condemned the NPP for failing to accept any blame of its administration and rather blame the NDC for all its woes.

Mahama said the NPP blamed him for the failures in their first term, and has resorted to blaming Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war, depicting how the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has failed to take responsibility for anything.
