Management Akoma FM in Kumasi on Tuesday, August 12,2025, paid a commiserating visit to the house of the late Dr Samuel Sarpong to console the family following the death of two ministers of state and six other officials in the August 6 helicopter crash.
The Head of Station, Ransford Nana Osei Asare who was accompanied by some Management members and staff of the Akoma FM , expressed his deepest condolences to the wife, children, the bereaved families, and the nation.
He reiterated that the loss of the officials was a national tragedy.

He said the station received with utter dismay the shocking news of the helicopter crash that tragically claimed the lives of two cabinet ministers, three other senior government officials and three distinguished flight officers of the Ghana Air Force.

He said the devastating news has sent shockwaves and deep sorrow throughout the entire Akoma FM family.
He described Dr Sarpong as a friend of the station having taken part in most of our outdoor and indoor events since it’s inception.

This is an extremely unfortunate and colossal loss to the country as these vibrant men who were on a national duty hold great value to the nation and it’s development.
Nana Asare, on behalf of Akoma FM Management and staff members, expressed his deepest grief and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and President Mahama.

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, confirmed on Wednesday, August 6,2025, that the crash claimed the lives of Dr Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, former Ashanti Regional Minister and current National first Vice_ Chairman of the ruling NDC, Dr Samuel Sarpong, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed; and Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director General NADMO.

Three crew members who also died were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
