There has been a massive shake up at the Ghana Health Service following a major re-assignment of some divisional directors at the Headquarters and some Regional Directors of Health Services across the country.
The notice copied all DIVISIONAL DIRECTORS, GHS HQ and ALL REGIONAL DIRECTORS OF HEALTH SERVICE and sighted by 3news indicated that the decision forms part of efforts to strengthen quality health service delivery to facilitate the achievement of the objectives of the Ghana Health Service.
Accordingly, the following Directors have been re-assigned with effect from 14th April 2025:
The notice signed by the Director General Prof. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, further noted that “the re-assignment is based on the exigencies of the Service and the need to strategically position the Service to deliver on its mandate and improve operational effectiveness and efficiency. Taking into account the strengths and unique skills of the Directors affected.”
“All reassigned Directors are requested to fully participate in the annual performance review meetings of their new Divisions and Regions. As part of the protocols of the Service, all Directors are entreated to comprehensively handover their duties before the effective date of the reassignment,” the Director General further directed.
In the case of the Eastern Region, one Dr. Damien Punguyire is expected to take over as the Regional Director of Health Services while Dr. Winfred Komla Ofosu proceeds on compulsory retirement in the course of the year.
