The Municipal Chief Executive of the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Fusseini Faila has assured residents of his resolve to champion development and implementation of programmes and projects aimed at addressing the challenges facing residents within the Municipality.

During the presentation of his sessional address at the first ordinary meeting of the second session of the 4th Assembly, the MCE stressed that the government’s focus on resetting the country would prioritise addressing developmental issues at the local levels in the areas of education, employment, health infrastructure and provision of basic amenities.

He assured Assemblymen that the presidency of John Mahama will fulfil its manifesto promises including the reclamation of all public lands which have been illegally sold to individuals within the municipality.

Already the MCE through his lobby skills has successfully secured the services of philanthropic organization, Qatar Charity to construct mosque in honour of Ali Saleh Al-Hammadi. The mosque will serve as a dedicated place of prayer for Muslim staff of the Assembly.

REVENUE MOBILIZATION

In the area of revenue mobilization, Alhaji Ibrahim Fusseini Faila revealed that the Assembly through a rigorous revenue generation drive has in the last few months raked in over GH6 million cedis representing a 44.61% of total IGF budget for the year 2025. Again, the overall revenue performance of the Assembly, including external sources and grants as at June 2025 amounted to GH15,640,574 million cedis representing 43% of the total revenue budget of GH35,783,983.40.

The MCE further announced that in order to ensure continuous improvement in revenue performance of the Assembly, the following strategic measures were to be adopted:

  1. Public Education of rate payers on their responsibilities towards the Assembly and new mode of payment of property rate
  2. Ensure effective supervision and monitoring of revenue
  3. Purchase of POS device to improve revenue mobilization and reduce revenue leakages
  4. Update revenue database to cover more areas of revenue collection and expand the tax net.

FLAGSHIP PROJECTS

24-Hour Market

Hinged on the NDCs manifesto promise to expand employment opportunities for the youth, the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Ibrahim Fusseini Faila informed Assembly members that funds will be made available to the Assembly under the District Assemblies Common Fund for the design and construction of a 24 hour Economy Market.

Municipal Hospital Project.

In order to expand health infrastructure, work on the Municipal Hospital Project at Danfa that practically started in 2022 and has stalled since 2024 will be resumed once outstanding contractural challenges are addressed.

Access to Potable Water

In line with government’s priority programmes, the Assembly will drill and mechanize 10 boreholes to help residents have access to water for domestic and commercial purposes.

School Infrastructure

As part of measures to improve teaching and learning in schools, the MCE also announced the Assembly will procure and distribute assorted furniture to some selected schools within the municipality. The Assembly he also revealed has secured a 2-acre land from the Pantang Hospital Authorities for the relocation of the Pantang Hospital Schools.

Improving Sanitation

Sanitation management has become a growing challenge in the municipality due to urbanization, high population growth rate and changing patterns of production and consumption among others.

As a result, the Assembly he will soon commission a Solid Waste Transfer Station which was constructed at Pantang and currently undergoing a test run before operationalization. The system will not only reduce the number of man hours spent in haulage and transportation of refuse but will also cut down the amount of money spent in fueling waste trucks.

Enforcement of Sanitory regulations has also been intensified with 1,438 premises being inspected by Sanitation Officers of the Assembly in all 15 electoral areas.

Road Projects

Alhaji Ibrahim Fusseini Faila also assured that as part of planned activities for the year 2025, the Assembly through its urban Roads Department will carry out Drainage works, Pothole Patching, Resealing and Grading of selected roads within the municipality.

DRAIN DESILTING WORKS

In order to mitigate the impact of floods during the rainy season, the Assembly is undertaken a series of drain desilting works and minor drainage repairs across the municipality.

The Assembly later paid tribute to victims of the military helicopter crash which claimed 8 lives.
