Media General’s Head of political desk, Alfred Ocansey is attending this year’s B20/G20 Summit, being held for the first time in Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Business leaders, policymakers and innovators from across the globe have gathered in Johannesburg for the highly anticipated B20 South Africa Summit, hosted under South Africa’s G20 Presidency, between November 18 to 21, 2025.

Under the theme “The Cooperation Agenda: Inclusive Growth for a Changing World”, the Summit calls for a new era of cooperation – one that is imaginative, equitable and grounded in trust.

This is not about returning to old paradigms, but about forging bold, future-ready partnerships that unlock opportunity across borders, sectors and generations.

“This is not just another summit, it is a turning point,” said Cas Coovadia, B20 South Africa Sherpa. “We are moving beyond declarations to delivery. The world is looking to the Global South not just for resources, but for leadership, innovation and partnership. B20 South Africa is about rebalancing the global equation – co-creating solutions that are principled, people-first and partnership-driven.”

The Summit will spotlight action over aspiration, showcasing practical pathways to drive inclusive, sustainable and innovation-led growth. Voices from both the Global South and North will engage in candid dialogue on how to build a more balanced and resilient global economy.

With support from Sanlam Allianz Ghana, Alfred Ocansey is expected to bring his expertise to bare in deliberations during the summit, having taken part in and moderated high level conversations on the economies of Africa, democracy on the continent amongst other relevant governance topics.
