Group CEO of Media General, Beatrice Agyemang has emphasized the critical role of continuous training and development for journalists during a visit by Information Minister, Fatimatu Abubakar and her team to Media General’s premises.

Discussions during the visit by the Minister and her delegation focused on the media’s vital contribution to nation-building and the government’s ongoing efforts to support and enhance the capacities of journalists across the country.

In her remarks, Beatrice Agyemang underscored Media General’s commitment to training and development of its journalists.

She said “Thankfully, at Media General, training is a constant, we see the importance of training. We see the importance of the development of the journalists. We are particular about the information we put out. We are doing that to ensure we get to where we want to be.”

The winner of the CEO of the year in Media, Television category, at the 8th CEO Summit, Beatrice Agyemang highlighted that Media General’s focus on rigorous training is aimed at ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the information disseminated to the public.

This commitment to excellence in journalism aligns with the organization’s broader goals of fostering a well-informed society.

Minister Abubakar acknowledged Madam Agyemang’s points and expressed the government’s support for professional development.

Other issues discussed include reassessing the implementation of the RTI act, addressing misinformation and disinformation, amongst others.

The visit is part of Minister Abubakar’s ongoing efforts to engage with key media stakeholders, aiming to strengthen collaboration and address issues pertinent to the media industry.
