The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Ransford Gyampo, says the true test of leadership is how governments respond to unexpected crises that affect citizens.
Speaking on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, he mentioned that global developments can easily affect countries like Ghana because the world operates as an interconnected system.
“The essence of governance is to solve problems, and governments are often instituted to ensure that the challenges facing people are addressed,” he said.
Prof. Gyampo noted that unforeseen global events may arise, but the responsibility of leadership is to implement policies that protect citizens from the impact.
“How the government manages unforeseen contingencies will show leadership and demonstrate commitment to helping the people,” he stated.
He also urged leaders not to blame every economic challenge solely on external factors but to address domestic issues that may worsen the situation.
Prof. Gyampo added that the government must continue to introduce practical interventions that cushion Ghanaians from global economic shocks and maintain public confidence in governance.
