Police have slapped the District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, Kwasi Bonzo, with three charges –Conspiracy to assault, assault and resisting arrest.

Mr. Bonzo was arrested Wednesday morning after trying to inquire of the destination of one of two missing excavators he had left in the care of the Ellembelle police command.

The two excavators which the DCE and the mining committee seized were left in the care of two police officers according to Mr. Bonzo but got missing overnight when the police left the scene.

The command has denied knowledge of the said excavstors citing the DCE and his Aide for investigation.

On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, the DCE was given a tip off that one of the missing excavators was being transported where he intercepted the movement to question the destination of the machine.

He was arrested in the process and has been processed for court after being granted police enquiry bail yesterday.

Four other persons who were with the DCE were also arrested but.were not granted bail.

Meanwhile, the Ellembelle Police Commander, ACP Dodzi Hlordzi has been interdicted in for making public commentaries on the issue in contravention with the regulations of the Ghana Police Service.
