To enhance sanitation and hygiene in the Upper West Region, the Regional Minister, Lawyer Charles Lwanga Puozuing, has announced that Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) must initiate and lead regular clean-up exercises in their respective areas.
The Minister emphasised that each MMDCE should establish a specific date for a District Sanitation Day and inform community members to participate, highlighting the importance of collective action to maintain cleanliness in the region.
Charles Lwanga made this known on Friday, August 29, 2025, during the unveiling of three skip trucks provided to Zoomlion for their waste management efforts.

He praised Zoomlion Ghana for its contributions and urged the availability of domestic waste bins for residents to prevent indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
“Know that the RCC is ever ready to collaborate with Zoomlion to ensure that the region is clean, and remains clean,” he stressed.

It’s noteworthy that Zoomlion Ghana recently launched 200 new waste management trucks across all 16 regions of Ghana to enhance waste collection and improve sanitation.
The Upper West Region received three of these skip-trucks as additional vehicles to support waste management services in the area.
Maxwell Ayipaala, Regional Focal Person at Zoomlion, assured the public of their commitment to providing improved and effective services.
“We are ever ready to make sure that we have a cleaner, and a cleaner society, community, Ghana, and Africa at large,” he stated.
He noted that the company operates in 18 other African countries, demonstrating its commitment to effective waste management.
Ayipaala added that the modern, state-of-the-art skip trucks are designed to enhance efficiency and extend service to more communities, reinforcing the company’s dedication to creating cleaner, healthier environments in Ghana.
