One person is said to be in critical condition after a tree fell on a motorbike and a 4 wheel drive following Monday morning’s downpour.

The incident which occurred on the Italian Embassy stretch has caused a stampeded blocking vehicles from both sides of the road.

TV3’s Emmanuel Samani visited the scene and spoke to the driver of the vehicle on which the tree fell.

According to him, he saw the tree coming down whilst heading towards its direction. He says he managed to avoid crashing with it but had the bonnet of the vehicle smashed by the tree.

“I was driving down the road from Cantonments post office towards Parks and Gardens and as I was going, from a distance I saw that the tree was falling on the road. I tried to stop and fortunately it fell on the bonnet and the motor rider was trying to use the side road so it actually hit him down and the trunk fell on his leg but he has been rescued now and sent to the hospital but I’m fine,” he narrated.

Meanwhile, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and Police are around bringing the situation under control.
