The Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, Wilson Arthur, has revealed that the finals of the 2024/25 edition could be Saturday instead of Sunday.
“A decision will be taken to have the final on Saturday, June 14 or Sunday, June 15,” he said.
“We will meet as a committee and decide and communicate the outcome accordingly,” he added in an interview on Onua TV‘s Agoro Fie on Monday, May 12.
Mr Arthur was on the late afternoon daily sports analysis show to review the semi-finals at the T n A Stadium over the weekend.
Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko SC beat Berekum Chelsea 1-0 to make the final.
A day before that game, Golden Kick SC beat fellow Division One side Attram De Visser 3-1 to book their ticket.
Therefore, Asante Kotoko will play Golden Kick SC in the final at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Per the original schedule, the final game is to come off on Sunday, June 15.
However, Mr Arthur explained that there is a WAFU U-20 Championships coming up and the organisers do not want one event to overshadow the other.
He, however, noted that the finalists will give the needed traction for marketing reasons especially given the run-up to the finals by Golden Kick SC.
“It will be an interesting match. Golden Kick knocked out Hearts of Oak at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium and Asante Kotoko are cousins of Hearts and the final will be at that same venue. So, it is going to be a thriller!”
