Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif has been adjudged the African Sports Minister of the Year.

Mustapha Ussif received this honour at the inaugural Africa Sports & Tourism Awards (ASTA) held in Abuja, Nigeria.

Despite being absent, the Ghanaian lawmaker, who represents the people of Yagaba-Kubori Constituency, was said to have displayed visionary leadership and dedication, lifting Ghana’s sports to new heights.

Under his leadership, Accra was recently named Africa’s city of sports until 2027.

He was also instrumental in ensuring that the 13th African Games were held successfully last month.

The Minister was represented by the Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dinah Boateng, who was accompanied to the ceremony by the Head of Consular and Welfare at Ghana’s High Commission in Abuja, Ambassador Inusah Zimblim,  and Security Advisor Commodore Bassing.
