The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a British passenger, onboard British Airways (BA 2066) from the Kotoka International Airport in Accra to Gatwick in the United Kingdom.

The suspect was travelling with a suitcase containing 32 slabs of substances that were suspected to be cannabis.

After a field test was carried by the Commission, the result was positive, confirming a weight 17.72Kg of cannabis in her possession.

The passenger has been processed and sent to NACOC headquarters for further investigations.

The arrest comes few hours after another apprehension was made on Sunday, May 18, where another British national was nabbed at the KIA. The passenger was coming to Ghana from Thailand through Dubai Emirates flight EK 787 where 92 slabs of cannabis weighing 53.6kg in two suitcases were uncovered.

Two other accomplices –a Customs Officer and a porter from the Airport’s Commercially Important Person (CIP) section –believed to be part of the cartel aiding the trafficking attempt were also arrested after further investigations.
