The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has stated that it hasn’t received any official communication from the government regarding the directive on national prophecies.
The Council says the Office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, following the widespread circulation of a message directing all religious leaders to relay messages of national interest to its outfit, hasn’t officially reached out to them.
The Office of the Envoy’s message follows the circulation of videos on social media involving the helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, where eight individuals, including government officials and military officers, perished.
Some self-acclaimed prophets in the videos claim they had foreseen the incident and given warnings that went unheeded.
The Office of the Presidential Envoy issued a directive on Sunday, August 10, 2025, urging all religious leaders to submit any prophecy or spiritual message with national implications to the Office for urgent review and further action, following the circulation of the videos on social media.
But in an interview on Citi FM, the General Secretary of the GPCC, Apostle Immanuel Tettey, indicated that the Council will take an official position once the message is officially communicated to them.
He, however, noted that its members have already been informed on how to deliver such sensitive messages.
“The GPCC normally will not have such controversial prophecies in the public domain. We have engaged our member churches and leaders. If it is written to us, we shall seek clarification from the office and determine the appropriate course of action,” he stated.
