Nations FC have been deducted three points and fined GH¢2,500 after its protest against Basake Holy Stars as regards the abandoned Matchday 33 was dismissed.
Nations FC filed the protest to complain about circumstances that led to the abandonment of the game at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Ampain.
Basake Holy Stars were also said to have filed a protest against the action by the visitors during the game on Sunday, June 1.
A three-member panel sat on the two protests.
According to the ruling on Tuesday, June 10, the protest by Basake Holy Stars was upheld while that of Nations FC dismissed.
The Abrankese-based club was also adjudged as having forfeited the match in accordance with Article 33(1)(b) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.
“That having forfeited the match, Nations FC shall be considered as having lost the match in accordance with Articles 33(2) AND 34(12) and accordingly three points and three (3) goals are hereby awarded in favour of Basake Holy Stars FC.
“That in addition, being the defaulting club, Nations FC shall lose three (3) points from the club’s accumulated points from their previous matches pursuant to Article 33(5)(a) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.”
Further investigations will be launched into the incident as the match reports are also looked into and assurance has been goven that those to be found culpable will be charged.
“That should any party be dissatisfied with or aggrieved by this Decision, the party has within one (1) day of being notified of this Ruling to appeal to the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association,” concluded the official decision issued by Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee Osei Kwadwo Adow, Esq.
