Nations FC’s Emmanuel Annor has been charged by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for an infringement on the IFAB Laws of the Game.
Annor displayed an undergarment with a religious message while celebrating his goal against Asante Kotoko on Resurrection Day.
On the undergarment was boldly written: ‘I BELONG TO JESUS’.
He scored his side’s second to seal a 2-0 win over the Porcupine Warriors at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
The win took the Abrankese-based side to within two points of leaders Bibiani Gold Stars SC.
However, on Tuesday, April 22, the GFA charged Annor as he is “alleged to have displayed religious messages on his undergarment during the match”.
“He has until Thursday, April 24, 2025, to respond to the charge,” the notice from the Committee indicated.
The IFAB Laws of the Game bars players from displaying such messages to heighten religious tension.
