A former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, has passed on.

Reports from sources withing the NDC say Mr. Coker died on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Bank Hospital, after a short illness.

Mr. Coker became Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional NDC after winning the regional election in 2009. He was Chairman till 2022, when he lost his re-election bid to Emmanuel Ahie Moore, who is currently the Chairman.

He was vocal in the fight against galamsey, admonishing the previous administration to suspend all small mining operations inĀ  the country until a substantive solution had been found to curtail the menace.

He was also a football administrator, having served as Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association.
