Chief Bayo noted that Dr. Bawumia’s actions calmed tension in the country and demonstrated a character of statesmanship.

The ANC President also used the statement to commend Nigerians in Ghana for conducting themselves well during the election.

“Before the election I sent a message out that any Nigerian who is caught misbehaving during the election and such is arrested will face the music alone. I am sincerely happy that no Nigerian was arrested for any reason during the election. I salute all my people from Nigeria,” portions of the statement indicated.

The Chairperson of Ghana’s Electoral Commission, Jean Adukwei Mensa, was also commended for spearheading an electoral process which gave Ghanaians the freewill to make their choices.

To him, Ghana has always been a beacon of hope for the continent and the world at large when it comes to democracy, and Saturday’s exercise solidified accolade.

Although some isolated cases of violence characterised the elections, the ANC President said that is a confirmation of all human activities that cannot be perfect.

“…but generally, the Madam Mensa-led EC has done well and they should be commended,” he added.

Chief Bayo assured that he will continue to ensure Nigerians in Ghana continue to be law abiding citizens and he will also mobilise and attract more Nigerian investors to boost the economy of Ghana as well as “encouraging our people to consider investing back home in Nigeria.”

He congratulated the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, for the outstanding victory of the election, expressing confidence in him to ensure a greater and more prosperous Ghana, assuring that the relationship between Ghana and other countries across the world will be stronger and promote unity all over Africa and beyond.
