Francis Addai-Nimoh is the latest high-ranking member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to condemn the party’s recent ‘Thank You’ tour, which has sparked controversy among members.
The tour, abandoned by Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the runner-up in the party’s 2024 presidential primary, amid verbal attacks and violent incidents, including the stabbing of a supporter, appears to be disintegrating the party’s front according some stalwarts.
Addai-Nimoh believes there are more pressing issues to address within the party before embarking on such an activity.
According to the NPP’s 2024 flag bearer aspirant, the leadership should have prioritised amending the party’s constitution to rectify the flaws that contributed to its disappointing defeat in the December elections before going on a tour.

The former Member of Parliament for Mampong believes the NPP needs a campaign more than a ‘Thank You’ tour to reform its base.
“We should do what is important before what is required. We have lost an election and there is a report on our defeat but we are having a presidential candidate leading that tour. We should have had our Conference to amend our constitution and after that, we could have all teamed up to have a Thank You tour, Apology tour and Unity tour,” he stated.
He noted that the party’s desired unity can only be achieved if the leadership adopts the right approach to mend the party’s internal fractures.
“The plan is to have a peaceful united strong NPP for 2029 but if that is not done, we will not achieve the unity,” he cautioned.
The former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations further stated that the NPP is at an all-time low since its inception. In his view, a party’s primary objective is to win elections, and failing to do so, especially after a humiliating loss of such magnitude, is a clear indication of failure.
“The NPP is in its lowest level looking at the results of the last elections. we didn’t form the party to make funfair. We are meant to win elections and if we have such a result in an election, it means we are at our lowest level,” he stated.
