An aspiring Parliamentary candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper Denkyira West Constituency of the Central region, Daniel Appianin has escaped death after the vehicle he was traveling on engaged in a fatal crash.

The incident occurred Sunday, July 30, 2023, when his Toyota V8 vehicle got crashed by a moving cement truck at Diaso, the district capital of the Upper Denkyira West.

Mr. Appianin, who is a Deputy Director in charge of Operations at the Ghana Maritime Authority, was in the constituency to submit his nomination forms to the party’s office.

The fully loaded articulated truck was said to be moving towards Diaso township from Sehwi Bekwai in the Western North region when the accident occurred.

No casualties were recorded as the crushed state vehicle was parked by the road side before the articulated cement truck run into it.

This has left many raising concerns about a possible abuse of office and incumbency as well, following the use of the state vehicle by the aspirant to transact a personal ambition.

Daniel Appianin is a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Central region and a former District Chief Executive of the Upper Denkyira West district.
