An independent parliamentary candidate for the Ejisu by-election, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, has advised the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to advise themselves after polls.

The former NPP Member of Parliament for the constituency says the party is struggling to go through the polls, the reason they have resulted to tantrums and tagging him with baseless allegations.

He has also advised the party to straighten their ways and perform to the satisfaction of the people to avoid finding themselves in the position they are now.

Reacting to allegations that his candidacy is being supported by the NDC, Mr. Aduomi reiterated that his performance whilst in office is the reason he is loved by the people, irrespective of the political party they belong to.

In a telephone interview with Yaa Titi on Onua TV’s morning  show, Maakye, Tuesday, April 30, 2024, Mr. Aduomi said “the fight has become tedious for the NPP. The NPP should advise themselves after this by-election and do good things in the country.”

“I am not an NDC so where did I seek sponsorship from the NDC? It is the NPP that wrote that letter to create the impression that a vote for Aduomi is a vote for the NDC. During my time in Parliament, if the NDC introduced a project and it was okay, I supported it. I sought the interest and development of the state,” he stated.

The Electoral Commission (EC) is conducting the by-election for the Ejisu constituency today, Tuesday, April 30, to fill the vacant seat left by the late Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, who passed away on March 07, 2024.

The NPP selected Kwabena Boateng on April 13, 2024, from a pool of nine contenders to vie for the seat and uphold the party’s position.

However, the opposition NDC opted out of participating in the by-election.

Kwabena Boateng faces formidable opposition from former constituency MP, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who is running independently after parting ways with the NPP.
