The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Agyei, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been referred to the party’s Disciplinary Committee over some party breaches.

The party says Abronye has made some “unguarded public comments” and violated the directives issued by the National Council of the party.

A statement issued by the party on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, and signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, contained the directive, which was arrived at after a National Steering Committee meeting.

Although it indicated that his conduct contravened the party’s guidelines to safeguard internal unity ahead of its presidential primary, it did not specify the details of the alleged infractions.

“In line with the party’s constitutional processes, the Bono Regional Chairman has been referred to the Disciplinary Committee for breaching directives of the National Council and making unguarded public comments,” portions of the statement read.

Abronye’s referral comes as the NPP seeks to rebuild and regroup ahead of the 2026 general elections, starting with its presidential primary in January.

To reinforce discipline and unity, the party has directed an immediate halt to all unauthorised caucuses and meetings involving current or former executives and presidential aspirants.

“The Party wishes to once again remind members of their constitutional obligation to protect party unity, to abide by and publicly support the Party’s decisions,” the statement emphasised.

In addition, the NPP has summoned all declared presidential aspirants to a joint meeting with the National Steering Committee and the National Council of Elders on 3 July 2025. The meeting is expected to address “matters of mutual interest” and set the tone for a competitive but orderly internal campaign.
