2024 Vice Presidential Candidate for the Movement for Change, Kwame Owusu Danso has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he says is the display of “hypocrisy” in their allegations of drug trafficking at the KIA.
Rev Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has alleged that some aircraft that landed in the country for a couple of days were engaged in money laundering and illicit drug trafficking.
Speaking on TV3 New Day’s Big Issue on Monday, April 7, 2025, Kwame Danso noted that the NPP is only engaging in a political communication strategy to maintain its relevance after their huge defeat in the 2024 elections.
He questioned why the opposition party has up until now not provided any evidence to the allegations of drug trafficking in the country if indeed such activity exists.
The private legal practitioner averred that there’s no iota of truth in the claim by Ntim Fordjour and the NPP.
“What the NPP is doing now is trying to gain relevance and establishing their relevance even after they have lost the elections.
“How is that you are alleging that two aircrafts contained thereof are cocaine and money and yet you are expecting the government to come and provide evidence to the allegations that you are making. Does it make sense to you?
“I think that the hypocrisy must end because there’s no scintilla of truth in what Rev Ntim Fordjour is doing,” he stated.
He stressed that the NDC government although has spent only three months in office, Ghanaians are experiencing a huge difference compared to the previous NPP government, naming a myriad of corruption and corruption-related scandals which he said were never investigated.
He condemned the phenomenon of opposition parties smearing ruling government with false allegations and negative narratives in order to secure power in next elections.
He stated that it is a bad reputation for the country as a whole and needs to be nipped in the bud.
“You must not in the name of establishing dominance, drug the name of Ghana in the mud. As a nation, we must all come together and rid ourselves of all negative attachments that political parties have relative to how they even communicate,” he asserted.
