Member of Parliament for Offinso South, Dr. Isaac Yaw Opoku, has bemoaned the poor state of roads in his constituency.
Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show with Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin on Akoma 87.9 FM, the Offinso South lawmaker lamented that the situation could affect the ruling NPP in the 2024 general elections.
The MP observed that apart from the Kumasi – Offinso highway, none of his communities has a tarred road.
Residents of the constituency who called to contribute to the ‘Mempotem‘ segment on the show, were angry at the Akufo-Addo government and their MP over the bad road network in the area.
They claim that the poor road network in the constituency is affecting their daily activities.
The Offinso South constituency is one of the voting powerhouses of the ruling NPP contributing over 36,000 votes to the party in the 2020 presidential election.
But areas like Wawase and its surrounding communities have no single road tarred.
The MP, was, however, confident that the Offinso to Wawase road and others will be captured in next year’s budget.
According to him, he has made the necessary contacts with government and other appropriate agencies for more motorable roads to be constructed in the area and he is sure government will redeem its pledge to the constituency.
