The Okere District Assembly has urged residents to uphold the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and ethical leadership while actively supporting efforts to combat corruption.

The call was made during a Town Hall engagement, organized by Assembly to promote responsible citizenship and good governance.

The programme sought to educate Assembly Members, chiefs and the market women on the important role of Okere people in fostering transparency and integrity in society.

The Administrattor of Okere District Assembly, Madam Candid Kape, explained that the law guarantees confidentiality for whistleblowers and safeguards them against victimization or any form of retaliation.

According to her, the government has also established a Whistleblowers Fund to reward individuals whose disclosures lead to the recovery of public funds or state assets.

She encouraged the residents of Okere to reject all forms of corruption and become agents of positive change by exposing wrongdoing and promoting honesty, transparency, and integrity within their communities.

The DCE of Okere, Eric Williams Ayettey noted that many of the Assembly Members would eventually occupy influential positions in the society and therefore needed to develop the discipline, integrity, and leadership qualities required to serve effectively and responsibly.

He further stressed that accountability remains a fundamental pillar of democratic governance and should be embraced at every level of society, including educational institutions.

He explained that accountability promotes trust, encourages responsible leadership, and strengthens democratic values, which are essential for national development.
