The Court of Appeal has set Wednesday, June 26 to decide on an objection to the reconstitution of the panel of justices hearing the appeal by Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral.
Rev Kusi Boateng is challenging the High Court ruling on contempt case against MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Lawyers for the MP led by Thaddeus Sory filed a counter application against the appeal.
Counsel for Okudzeto Ablakwa further objected to the reconstitution of the panel which was today chaired by Justice Pamela Koranteng.
He noted that the previous panel was chaired by Justice Dzamefe who had been taken off the original panel. Lawyer Sory posited that it contradicts the standard practice and undermines a fair trial to his client.
Thaddeus Sory further alleged that Rev Kusi Boateng is a spiritual father of the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo and hence would not get a fair trial.
But counsel for Rev Kusi Boateng objected. Bobby Banson indicated that his assertions aren’t grounded in law.
