Ghana Premier League side Dreams FC have officially lodged a protest with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) concerning the fielding of ineligible players by Real Tamale United (RTU) in their outstanding game on Wednesday, June 12.

According to Dreams FC, their captain and the Team Manager verbally protested before kick-off after they doubted the players on the field.

“This verbal protest was duly noted and recorded by the match officials before the start of the match,” the club said in a statement on Thursday, June 13.

This clarification comes in the wake of allegations that the home side had knowledge about the action of RTU but went ahead to play the game.

The 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup semi-finalists were seeking a win to remain in the League and, therefore, have been fingered for collusion with RTU, who were relegated on Sunday following their 2-0 home loss to Asante Kotoko.

The Still Believe boys eventually won the match, an outstanding one due to their campaign in Africa, by 8 goals to 1.

The win saved them from relegation, leaving five teams including former perennial winners Hearts of Oak to fight for survival.

Dreams FC have said no further comments will be made on the matter until determination by the judicial bodies of the GFA.

On Wednesday, June 12, after the issues broke out, the GFA charged RTU, giving the club up to Friday, June 14 to respond.
