Samuel Atta Akyea, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, has asked Ghanaians not to take Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah’s prophecy about the 2024 elections serious.
The lawmaker says what the man of God said at the event cannot be taken as God’s projection but rather human’s.
The founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International, Reverend Isaac Owusu-Bempah, has said God has given the country back to the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama.
The man of God who is known for prophesying electoral victories for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), particularly for then candidate Akufo-Addo, has said God has given Ghana back to the former President.
He says God wants Mahama to take back the hem of affairs as a result of his pure heart.
This, according to Rev. Owusu-Bempah, is something that has been cemented and cannot be changed by anything.
At a programme dubbed; ‘Mahama fellowships with the clergy’ held in Accra Tuesday, October 01, 2024, the man of God, after praying for John Mahama and saying “w’atimtim no ɛwɔ ɔman yi akonnwa kɛseɛ so ɛwɔ Yesu din mu”
Relaying what he saw in Twi during the prayer, he said “Ɛmmere a mpaebɔ no rekɔ so no, deɛ Awurade aka akyerɛ me ni: Ɛnam ɔpanin yi n’akoma papa nti, Onyame asan de oman yi ahyɛ ne nsa biom. Biribiara ntumi nsi ano kwan. Amen!” to wit “During the prayers, this is what the Lord said to me; Due to this man’s pure heart, God has given back this country to him. Nothing can stop it. Amen!”
Meanwhile, Mr. Atta Akyea, in an interview with AsaasePa FM Wednesday, October 02, 2024, cautioned against placing too much importance on such prophecies.
He says despite the fact that people having their own religious and spiritual beliefs, issues of elections are purely decided by the will of the people through the ballot box and not supernatural predictions.
He urged that the citizens be allowed to make their informed decisions through the policies being presented to them, rather than using prophecies.
He further encouraged political parties and their supporters to concentrate on engaging with the electorate and outlining their plans for Ghana’s future.
Atta Akyea thinks such prophecies have undue influence on the people which should not be tolerated, stressing that democratic processes remain the legitimate means to determine a nation’s leadership, despite the right of spiritual leaders to express themselves.
”It is human projections, it couldn’t be God’s projection.”
”I am sad because I know Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah, he shouldn’t have allowed himself to be used at an NDC political rally in the name of spiritual gathering for such a message to come out,” he said.
”I am not happy Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah allowed himself to be contradicted in such a manner,” Atta Akyea added.
