Queen mother of Akyem-Dwenase in the Fanteakwa South district of the Eastern region Nana Appeaa Sarponmaa Kumankuma has challenged parents to invest massively in the education and training of their children.

She says education is the best legacy parents could give to their wards and has hence called on them to take keen interest in providing them their educational needs to complement government’s effort.

She advised them to refrain from making unnecessary expenditure especially on funerals but to rather channel such efforts into the training of their children whom she observed as the leaders of tomorrow.

Nana Appeaa Sarponmaa Kumankuma, who was speaking to Onua News on the sidelines of the maiden Fanteakwa South 2023 Retirees Service and Well Recognised Staff Award emphasised the need to invest in girl child education to enable them excel in all spheres of life.

She observed how some women elsewhere are outclassing by occupying high offices as a result of the efforts put in by their parents.

“I have always advised parents in the Dwenase community to appreciate education, especially girl child education as the best and treasured legacy they can leave for their children.

“As a parent you can use your money to buy cars or build mansions but if you don’t educate your children they will end up losing all these properties”, she re-emphasised.

The Dwenasehemaa commended the Fanteakwa South Education directorate for seeing the need to award teachers as a motivation to enhance teaching and learning in the area.

She encouraged the teachers to step up their game and be better prepared for the mixed ability classroom where students have diverse needs.

She similarly challenged the school going children to study hard to justify the huge investments made in them by their parents.
