Parliament on Tuesday, February 04, 2025, approved the Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
This was despite the Minority’s abstinence from the approval process, citing reasons including the the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), past controversies, among others.
With the Minority opting out, Mr Ablakwa’s approval was secured solely by a voice vote.
Meanwhile, Parliament has approved Dr Rashid Pelpuo, MP for Wa; Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, MP for Nanton; Samuel Nartey George, MP for Ningo-Prampram; Kofi Adams, MP for Buem; and Joseph Bukari Nikpe, MP for Saboba.
These nominees are awaiting their swearing-in by President John Dramani Mahama.
The Minority had earlier indicated his caucus’ decision to abstain from his approval until after some documents he was requested to provide have been provided.
