Several persons have been rendered homeless at Paniambisa, a suburb of Jema in the Kintampo South district of the Bono East region after rainstorm raised down houses and schools in the community. The incident happened between 6am and 8am Monday, March 11, 2024.

Officials of the Natural Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), as at the time this report was being filed, werer yet to announce the official number of persons and properties affected by the disaster.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the area, Abdul Razak Mohammed, and some residents say over fifty (50) houses and hundreds of people have been affected. Two basic schools have also been ripped off their roofs.

Some of the displaced persons, according to Abdul Razak, are currently sharing shelter with other households while others are lodging in churches.

Razak says apart from the Kintampo South Education Director who visited the community on Tuesday, no government official, including the District Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament, have visited the community yet.

He alleges the MP, Alexander Gyan, has not been responding to his calls and appealed to stakeholders to come to their aid.
