A police escort vehicle was involved in a near-fatal accident on Saturday afternoon (June 7) near the police barrier in Binduri, while accompanying a convoy transporting nursing students from the Presbyterian Nurses and Midwifery Training College.

The incident, which occurred around 4:00 PM, involved a backup vehicle that was part of the security detail escorting the students from Bolgatanga to Bawku.

According to police sources, the vehicle lost control and somersaulted multiple times, leaving the driver injured. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

Confirming the incident, the Upper East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Raymond Wejong Adofiem, stated that the vehicle was extensively damaged as a result of the crash.

“The vehicle somersaulted several times and was extensively damaged. But we did not record any casualties,” DCOP Adofiem said.

He commended the swift response of local residents, whose timely intervention helped manage the situation and provide immediate assistance.

Despite the crash, the police confirmed that the escort mission continued without interruption. All students were safely transported to their destination without any delays or disruptions.
