A pregnant woman and several others sustained minor injuries in a road accident at Okrakwadjo, along the Koforidua-Adukrom stretch in the Eastern Region.

No fatalities were recorded.

The incident involved a Toyota Hiace vehicle with registration number GT 5160-17, which was traveling from Ashaiman to Koforidua.

An eyewitness said the vehicle veered off the road and landed in a bush on the shoulder of the road.

The accident occurred amid persistent rainfall that began early in the morning, likely contributing to poor visibility and slippery road conditions.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, and her team from the Regional Coordinating Council chanced upon the scene and joined in the rescue efforts.

She urged drivers to strictly adhere to road safety regulations, especially during the rainy season when driving conditions become more hazardous.

The official cause of the accident is yet to be determined, as Police continue their investigations.
