Former Deputy Minister of Defense, Kofi Amankwa-Manu has said the presidential jet is in good shape.

Speaking on Oyerepa, a Kumasi-based television station on Friday, September 5, 2025, the Atwima Kwawonma lawmaker said, the presidential jet was only following routine maintenance and that, issues with it only surfaced during one of such exercises.

“It is normal to detect issues during maintenance. Just like our private vehicles, we go for routine maintenance, and we are told about issues that need to be fixed.

“The issue of corrosion on the presidential jet surfaced during routine maintenance, so it is just a matter of fixing it. The presidential jet is usable because it is in good shape,” he said.

He was however, quick to add that, if the current administration still needs a new jet they can bring it up for a debate “if the current administration still feels the country needs a new jet they can trigger a debate. The NPP will not be a destructive opposition. We will support anything that will benefit the Ghanaian populace.”
