Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their well wishes to her following the announcement of her sudden illness.

It was announced that she was given an urgent medical care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday, March 29, 2025, following an illness the previous day, Friday, March 28.

This was confirmed by a statement from the presidency. Although the statement was silent on the diagnosis of the Vice President, it assured the public that she was stable and had been advised to seek further medical treatment abroad as a means of precaution.

Following the announcement of her condition, there was widespread public concern with many Ghanaians trooping to social media to express their well wishes with her.

Political figures, religious leaders, including members of the general public, partook in the well wishes and prayed for a speedy recovery for the Vice President.

Meanwhile, the Vice President, in her goodwill message to the Muslim community on their celebration of Eid Mubarak, acknowledged the concerns expressed by Ghanaians.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed gratitude for the kindness and support shown by the public in her brief statement.

“Likewise, I would like to say thank you to everyone for the kind sentiments and well wishes this weekend,” she stated.
