Struggling Ghana Premier League side Accra Lions have announced the return of German tactician Rainer Kraft.
Kraft coached the side between 2019 and 2021, qualifying them to the country’s top-flight league from Division One.
“Accra Lions earned promotion to the Ghana Premier League under Coach Rainer Kraft during his first tenure from 2019 to 2021,” a club statement said on Wednesday, January 15.
“He brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our mission to nurture talent and compete at the highest level.”
This follows the departure of Ibrahim Tanko from the side.
Tanko mutually agreed with management to step aside “to focus on other important projects”.
He has, nonetheless, pledged to make himself available should the side need his services in future.
Accra Lions’ struggles in the League this season was pronounced as they issued a public complaint on officiating in their away game against Dreams FC on Matchday 16.
They host Bibiani Gold Stars in their final game of the first round of the season this weekend.
They currently lie 17th with 13 points on the 18-team table.
