The Cantilever roof of a portion of the ongoing redevelopment at the Koforidua Jackson’s Park has fell off.

The incident occured after a windstorm Wednesday afternoon. No casualty was recorded.

Some workers were busy working at the other part on the park when the incident happened.

But residents have questioned the quality of work being done and fear using it in future.

“My school is just behind. We heard the sound, we got worried only to realise it is from this place. Work hasn’t completed yet but it’s already falling off. How can I have the courage to use the recreational facility when it is completed?”, he asked.

“I am just suprised. The thing was raised too high. Assuming they had finished and people were using it, it would have been a disaster,” he added.

A sod cutting ceremony was held for the redevelopment of the Jackson’s park in 2021.

When completed, it would have a car park, shops, recreational centre and spaces for social activities.

The redevelopment forms part of a five-year project development plan under the Ghana Secondary City Development funded by the World Bank.

Four projects are under the programme initiated in 2019; the Jackson’s Park redevelopment, Nsukwao Basin, Ultra Modern Central market and the Mangoase Double Dekker Court.
