Ghanaian socialite and actress, Efia Odo has addressed the rumours about her departure from a restaurant where she previously worked and co-owns.

The actress was criticised on social media about her ownership of the Eats Avenue restaurant with several allegations about how she acquired the partnership.

Among the claims was an allegation that she’s romantically involved with her co-partner of the restaurant who owns majority of the shares.

Speaking on the recent podcast on Rants, Bants and Confession, Efia Odo firmly denied the accusations, stating that she has a “platonic” relationship with the co-owner who supports her in whatever she does, describing him as an “uncle”.

“They started creating stories that the man and I are dating that we are in a relationship. That’s the mess up thing about it. He is someone that I respect so much, he’s really put me on a pedestal, he’s opened my eyes to the business aspect. He made me feel like a woman of substance and puts energy into everyone he’s around so I didn’t like the idea that we were dating…so false,” she said.

“Those were some factors that ended up at where we are now [Leaving her job as a manager of the restaurant]. To take myself out of the equation and say I’m no longer related physically to the restaurant,” she added.

She also debunked the claims that her co-partner caught her in a compromising situation with Medikal’s manager, Kofi Jam.

“One instance Medikal’s manager came there. They said my co-owner saw me chopping the guy at the restaurant. Like how?” she questioned, dismissing the rumour as completely false.

Efia Odo explained that her friendly and sociable nature is often misinterpreted as flirtation, leading to misconceptions about her behaviour.

“I am someone who welcomes everyone. I am very hospitable and sociable. I will flirt with my customers because the more I flirt, the more money comes. I do it to both males and females just to let them know that I am not a welcoming person,” she said.

Reflecting on the impact of the gossip, Efia Odo admitted, “A lot of this gossip affected me; I am human.” Efia says she remains focused on moving forward despite the recent controversy in her life.

She added that she is still a co-owner of the restaurant and has not denounced her 40% shares.
