Dozens of passengers commuting from Salaga to Tamale Thursday morning May 29, 2025, have been stranded as drivers have refused to comply with the 15 per cent reduction in transport fares.
The drivers earlier reduced the fares by only 10 per cent instead of the 15 per cent reduction as announced by the commercial transport operators.
But on Wednesday May, 28, the Municipal Chief Executive for East Gonja, Yazid Kassim, and the Municipal Security Committee, mounted pressure on them to further reduce the prices to 15 per cent or risk closing the station.
The drivers therefore decided not to work today saying they cannot reduce the fares beyond the 10 per cent.
