The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sefwi-Wiawso, Dominic Gyasi has inspected ongoing grading works on the Boako–Asawinso road in the Western North Region.
The project, which is being supervised directly by the Municipal Assembly, is aimed at improving road infrastructure and easing transportation challenges for commuters, traders, and farmers.

For years, the Boako–Asawinso stretch has been a major concern, especially during the rainy season when the road becomes almost impassable. Farmers struggle to transport food produce, traders face difficulties reaching markets, and students are often delayed in accessing schools.

Speaking during the inspection, Dominic Gyasi said the Assembly’s intervention was necessary to provide immediate relief to road users while working with relevant agencies to secure lasting solutions.

“The Boako–Asawinso road is a very important link for our local economy. Farmers transport their produce, traders rely on it for business, and students use it to access schools. As an Assembly, it is our duty to intervene and make sure the road is motorable. Roads remain a top priority for us,” the MCE stressed.
He assured residents that similar interventions would be extended to other communities across the municipality as part of efforts to reduce transportation challenges.

The MCE further appealed to community members to support the Assembly by helping to maintain the roads after rehabilitation works, noting that proper maintenance would extend their lifespan and reduce frequent repairs.
Residents along the Boako–Asawinso corridor have welcomed the grading works, describing the move as timely and a huge relief to their daily activities.
