As parts of efforts to end the persistent traffic challenges in the central business district of the Sefwi-Wiawso Municipal Assembly, work has begun on the Bekwai Dwinase bypass.
This is to ease persistent traffic congestion at Dwinase, a situation that has affected businesses and the movement of people and vehicles within the municipality’s central business district for years.
The congestion has become a concern for motorists, traders and residents, with delays disrupting daily activities and making movement through the busy commercial area difficult.
As part of efforts to address the problem, the Assembly is opening a bypass to provide an alternative route for vehicles and improve traffic flow around Dwinase.
The Municipal Chief Executive in an interview with 3news says the Assembly reached out to the Tipper Drivers Association for assistance in transporting boulders from Chirano to the project site.
Which the association responded positively, helping to move the materials needed for the intervention.
“Chirano Gold Mines and the Tipper Drivers Association have been acknowledged for their support towards the project”. He added
The bypass is expected to help ease pressure on the affected roads, although its impact will depend on how effectively it redirects traffic away from the congested area.
For businesses operating within the central business district, improved traffic flow could make it easier for customers, suppliers and other road users to access the area.
The Assembly says it is relying on cooperation with local organisations and businesses to help address the congestion, which has become a challenge for people who depend on the commercial centre for their daily activities.
