In a bid to address youth unemployment and create decent job opportunities, the Office of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Sefwi Wiawso, in partnership with the Ghana Labour Exchange Programme (GLEP), has successfully facilitated job placements for young people in the municipality.

As part of the initiative, a group of 14 young men from Sefwi Wiawso, who applied across various disciplines, were transported to Accra for screening and interviews. Out of the group, 10 candidates were successfully selected based on physical strength and height, which were key requirements for the positions.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Dominic Gyasi, who has been at the forefront of the collaboration, praised the effort as a positive step toward tackling unemployment among the youth. In a phone interview, he urged young people in the municipality to take advantage of such initiatives to better their lives and support their families and communities.

“This is a golden opportunity for our young men and women. I encourage all eligible youth to show interest and apply whenever such chances come their way,” Mr. Gyasi stated.

The selected candidates also expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso, Kofi Benteh Afful, whose leadership and support made the initiative possible.

“We are truly grateful to Hon. Benteh Afful for believing in the youth and opening doors for us,” one of the successful candidates said.

The Ghana Labour Exchange Programme is a nationwide initiative aimed at connecting job seekers to employment opportunities, particularly in sectors that require physical capacity and practical skills.

The collaboration with the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly marks a significant milestone in empowering the youth of the Western North Region.
