Thirty-one (31) Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipality have received financial and material support from the Disability Fund of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).
The support forms part of the Assembly’s 3 % allocation from the District Assembly Common Fund earmarked to support persons with disabilities. The package included cash grants and essential equipment such as sewing machines, deep freezers, ice chests, a water pump, an oven, laptops, and a washing machine to help improve the beneficiaries’ socio-economic livelihoods.
In total, the disbursement amounted to GH¢143,187.60. A breakdown of the items distributed includes 10 deep freezers, 10 ice chests, one water pump, one oven, two laptops, and one washing machine.

Presenting the items, the Mayor of the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipal Assembly, Frederick F. Faidoo, expressed confidence that the support would significantly enhance the living conditions of the beneficiaries and empower them towards economic independence.
He assured that additional disbursements would be made once the Assembly receives subsequent releases of the Common Fund.
“This disbursement will significantly enhance the living conditions and empower them toward economic independence,” the mayor stated. “More support is coming with future DACF releases.”

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the continued support and pledged to put the items and funds to good use. They further appealed to the government to sustain and expand such initiatives to enable more persons with disabilities to benefit.
“We deeply thank the assembly for this vital lifeline,” one beneficiary said. “Please continue and expand it to reach even more of us.”
