A tragic road accident at Kwashieman has left several people feared dead following a violent collision between a passenger bus and a truck in the early hours of Friday, April 3.
The crash occurred around 4:00 a.m. when a Grand Bird bus travelling from Takoradi towards Sowutuom attempted to turn at the Kwashieman traffic light.
At the same time, a truck loaded with onions was approaching the intersection from the Lapaz direction, heading towards Kasoa.

Reports indicate the truck was moving on an amber light when the bus driver proceeded with the turn. Despite repeated honking by the truck driver to warn the bus, the two vehicles collided with significant force.
The impact forced the truck off its path, causing it to veer into pedestrians who had gathered at the traffic light waiting to cross the road.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as devastating, with extensive damage to the vehicles and multiple casualties sparking panic among bystanders. The bus is reported to have been carrying passengers travelling to attend a convention.

The Ghana Police Service says the scale of the crash has made it difficult to immediately confirm the number of fatalities and injuries.
Investigations are currently underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
