Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah, has asked final year senior high school students and the general public to disregard a circular making rounds on social media on the date of reopening for the students.

The circular notes that the Form Three students who will be taking their final examination this year will return to school on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

But Dr. Eric Nkansah, speaking in a telephone interview with Captain Smart on Onua TV Monday, April 15, 2024, said the circular is not authentic and should be disregarded by everybody.

He announced that the Form 3 students will be reopening on Wednesday, April 17.

“There is nothing like that. I got hold of that circular just this morning and it is not authentic. The form 3s will go back to school on the 17th of this April and that is what they all know.”

He said everything the students need to resume has been set in place with allocation made for those that couldn’t complete their WAEC registration.

“We have put every measure required to receive them in school in place. Few days ago, I came to announce that some of them couldn’t complete their registration and we pleaded with WAEC to give them some extension and they have been given up to the end of this month. So, when they arrive, they will be able to continue with their registration and take their mock exams before preparing themselves for the exams. They will not come home again until they finish their final exams,” he explained.
